Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
A powerful method that can help improve your mental health and wellbeing includes stabilize our moods, improves our sleep, influences addictive behaviors, decreases worry and anxiety and has been shown to sometimes improve physical health as well. CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns that can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems. One of the most common techniques used in CBT is the ABC technique, which stands for Activating Event, Beliefs, and Consequences.
The ABC technique helps individuals identify the trigger or activating event that leads to negative thoughts or emotions. By exploring these thoughts further, individuals can uncover common thinking errors such as catastrophizing or all-or-nothing thinking. Once these mistaken beliefs are identified, they can be challenged and replaced with more positive and rational ones through cognitive restructuring exercises. This process allows for a shift in perspective towards more balanced and realistic thinking patterns.
When I work one on one, I lead my private clients through a comprehensive 12 week program. These CBT classes are designed to provide a solid introduction to the principles with tools and techniques for self-application. If you want individual support after taking the classes, Karen will offer students who complete the classes, a special discount for 1:1 support from her. Karen has 25 years of clinical experience and has experienced significant success with CBT techniques.
Anyone seeking to improve their relationship with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I'd love to work privately with everyone but I know that providing quality self-awareness opportunities via group training can have a big impact so I'm really looking forward to presenting this information to you.

What Clients Say About Karen
Forever Grateful
Karen is kind, compassionate, and above all else knowledgeable. She is everything I was looking for in a therapist and I feel comfortable in every interaction with her. She respects my time and does not waste energy on meaningless fluff - everything she says in sessions has a purpose. Her treatments focus on strategies with verifiable scientific backing, and whenever she encountered something, she wasn't 100% sure of in the moment she would do research on her own time in order to have a definitive answer for the next session. I feel markedly improved from when we started working together and I have no qualms about recommending her to anyone else seeking to deal with anxiety or phobias.

Forever Thankful
The CBT program Karen did for me was fantastic. Not only did I have fewer trauma-induced nightmares, I became more able to talk about my childhood and relationship with my mother without experiencing anxiety and pain. My favorite exercise was the one where I analyzed the utility of certain thoughts or beliefs, ultimately discarding so many things that were upsetting me as not useful. There were times when I felt like I wanted to give up, but Karen was great at helping to keep me motivated and accountable. At the end, I felt better equipped and more energized to take on life!
Changed My Life
